Prior to PSU, I was... enjoying a break from the pressures of school and
figuring out my next step.
When I was applying to graduate school, I wish I knew... to prepare my applications as
early as possible, since the admissions process at any school is time consuming, costly, and multifaceted.
I chose my program because... I really wanted to live in Portland; it's easily one of the most fun and progressive cities in the country.
My favorite class/professor so far has been... Dr. Goekjian's Literary Criticism and Theory I & II
and Dr. Westbrook's Wordsworth, Stevens, and Heaney. I honestly found their combined knowledge and approach both
humbling and inspiring.
My professional goals after I graduate from PSU are... to enter a competitive PhD program in English
Literature and to continue teaching literature and writing.
My favorite spot on campus to study is... anywhere in the Park Blocks on a sunny day.
My key to success at PSU is... surrounding myself with supportive friends and family, engaging my
professors both in and out of class, and establishing as many friendships with other self-driven students as possible.
