Prior to PSU, I was... trying to settle down in one place and establish
a career. After spending ten years moving from one city to another and one job to another
(the longest I'd spent in one place was eighteen months), I decided that I wanted to settle
down in Portland and build a stable life and career.
When I was applying to graduate school, I wish I knew... that it is a lot
more work than it seems at first, especially when you work full-time as well. It's worth it,
but it does take time, determination, and effort.
I chose my program because... I already knew that I liked to write and thought
that a degree in technical communication would assist me in getting a technical
writing job (which it did).
My favorite class/professor so far has been... My favorite professors were
those that based their instruction on real-life work experience. Document Design and Trends
in Technical Communication both helped me to understand just what a technical writing job entails.
My professional goals after I graduate from PSU are...
to continue working as a technical writer, gaining experience and knowledge as I go.
My favorite spot on campus to study is... anywhere near a vending machine with Cheetos!
My key to success at PSU is... actively making the most of the opportunities
I had and contacts I made and not waiting for someone to lead me by the hand through the process.
I think it's up to each student to take charge of their career at PSU to make the most of it!
