SPECIAL INTERESTS: Debra Gwartney has a master's
degree in journalism with an emphasis in creative nonfiction from the University of
Arizona, where she studied with Vivian Gornick. Her work has appeared in such literary
journals as Creative Nonfiction, Fourth Genre, Prairie
Schooner, Kenyon Review, Washington Square Review, and
Salon.com. She's a former correspondent for Newsweek and for The
Oregonian, and has contributed freelance articles to dozens of newspapers and
magazines.
