BIOGRAPHY: Debra Gwartney earned an MFA in Nonfiction and Literature from Bennington College and an MA in journalism from the University of Arizona. She is the
author of a memoir, Live Through This, which is a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award and the Books for a Better Life Award. The book was shortlisted for both the PNBA
Award and the Oregon Book Award in 2009, and was named one of the top ten books of the year by The Oregonian. Her work has appeared in many publications, including the Modern Love column
in The New York Times, as well as Creative Nonfiction, Fourth Genre, Prairie Schooner, Triquarterly, Kenyon Review, Washington Square
Review, and Salon.com. She's been awarded fellowships from the Wurlitzer Foundation, Literary Arts, Hedgebrook, and the American Antiquarian Society. She's a former correspondent
for Newsweek and for The Oregonian.
